Carlotta Gentry
Mrs. Gentry was married to the late Pastor Tony Gentry, for 25 years prior to his demise. In November 2018 they obtained their Foster Care License, and in December 2019 they opened their home to three beautiful foster children. In October 2021, they opened their home to receive three of their current foster children’s siblings to keep all six children together. In March 2023, they were able to adopt the first three children before The Lord called Tony home in July 2023. In June 2024, Carlotta was finally able to adopt the last three siblings and now she is doing her best to raise all six of her children simply because they deserve the best. Mrs. Gentry started college to obtain a degree in June 2019 and had to pause when her husband passed with only two classes classes away from graduating. In 2024 she stopped working to become a full-time mother to her children. In August 2025 she decided to re-enroll in college to obtain her degree.
Carlotta served as a Domestic Violence Advocate & Hospital Medical Advocate for those who need assistance, support, and shelter during their time of abuse, as well as a Suicide Prevention Advocate. She has volunteered at the Wichita Family Crisis Center and Harbor House Domestic Violence Shelter of Catholic Charity Diocese as an Intake and Crisis Call Specialist and participated in the SHORES program for those hospitalized due to physical and sexual abuse.
Carlotta was the president of the Diamond's In Ministry at her local church where she held her first Fearfully & Wonderfully Made Diamond Dinner in October 2010 which consisted of 20-25 women. As the women were being encouraged hearing they all had a purpose, tears began to stream down their faces. Her thoughts were, "if this event impacted this small group of women, imagine the impact of those throughout the city". She reached out to women within organizations, and individuals, who have experienced all forms of abuse, homelessness, suicidal ideations, substance use, and low self-esteem due to past or present negative experiences and held her 2nd Annual Dinner at the Wichita Marriott. The Dinner was held annually, prior to COVID-19, for approximately 100-150 women to let them know they ARE somebody…someone who has been FEARFULLY & WONDERFULLY MADE!!
Mrs. Gentry loved helping women who attended the Annual Fearfully & Wonderfully Made Diamond Dinner however, she felt as though her mission was not yet being fulfilled. In November 2022, she decided to start the, I Am A Diamond Dinner, Inc, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, to expand her vision and deepest passion to help women throughout the year by providing resources for self-awareness, mental health, education, life-skills and meet basic life needs.
“When I think of the Gem “DIAMOND”, I think about a dark piece of coal hundreds of feet beneath the earth that is just waiting to be found by a miner. After going through the fire and the entire process, the coal then becomes a bright shining, Diamond. There is beautiful woman in this world waiting to be rescued from the darkness that surrounds them. They have been living in a world of darkness that they can’t see the Diamond within. My passion is for women who have been abused, battling with low self-esteem, suicidal, and depression. Why? Because I am a SURVIVOR. My desire is to let them know that no matter how hard people may try to tear them down by certain words or physical harm; they can make it…BECAUSE, BY THE GRACE OF GOD, I DID!!!”
